say whats the best way to put the bank of carbs back onto the carb holders? I mounted the holders to the motor before i set the bank down because I could not otherwise get to the allen screws. the problem with this is that I cant get the carbs to fully seat on the holders- that and it was a pain in the butt to get the bank in! I hesitate to put any kind of lubricant on the holders to get teh carbs to slide in easier..... thanks for your help folks! awesome site, great people!

Lube them up. A little squirt of WD-40 works wonders.

    Then wiggle a bit.

I use a smear ... smear ... of Synthetic Waterproof Grease on the Manifolds and the Carb Necks.

Used a Wooden Handle of a Big Hammer to pry the Carbs forward and into the Manifolds. The Wood won't harm anything or scratch it up. There are a few placed to get some purchase for the Handle and they are Aluminum.

They won't be harmed by the pressure you put on the Hammer Handle.

Secure the Throttle Cable Attachment End to the Enrichment Circuit Operating Rod with some wire or a Plastic Tie Wrap. Keep it from slipping down under the Head and you won't have runaway RPM's and have to remove the Carbs to free-up the Throttle Cable Attachment once the Carbs get set in the Manifolds.

sweet thanks! now i just need to take care of my 4500 rpm idle.... 8O

throttles not caught on anything, THE THROTTLE WOULD NOT RETRACT ALL THE WAY DOWN! that and there is absolutely no throttle return- springs are worn- I put in a spring I had layn around just to get it to return to a normal idle  next week-time to rebuild the carbs!

say is there a return spring in the actual throttle grip? or is it just the long carb return spring?

The Return Spring on the Carb Linkage is THE Return Spring and also acts to bring the Throttle Grip back when the Linkage pulls upon the Cable.

Looks like the springs, butterfly shafts and butterflies don't have part numbers. If you need some better see if chacal has any used ones.

I do have good used ones! Tiger, let me know which ones you need. The "diaphram springs" are the ones under the carb hat, the long slinky-like thing. The "throttle return springs" are actually on the carb throttle shafts, retained by small pegs on the carb bodies.
