This is on my 1981 XJ 650

The tailpipe has separated (came loose) from the header and there is a 1/4" gap where exhaust blows out all over my pants and boots. There doesnt seem to be any adjustment to move the tailpipe back and forth. How do I fix this the right way?

It's at the spot you circled on the right side of the parts diagram. I dont see any additional parts there that I would be missing. I will probably get laughed off the forum for saying this but I am thinking a couple wraps of high heat foil tape might fix it. It's not a real "pristine" bike anyway. Probably wouldn't be noticable. And definitely cheaper than new exhaust.
