If it is running that is one price if it is not that is another price. you seem to be missing the directionals in the front fender not sure what I see going on with the top of the gas tank the high-rise seat with the needed sissy bar is a good thing. Does it have the right side cover. That may be a 1981 650 Maxim. check the VIN code under I've been code check thread. If the bike is not running $300 tops probably less depending upon where you live. I see you're in New York do you have a title that goes a long way towards the price. If the bike is running and its current condition 500 maybe $700 tops depends on the time of the year. In the late fall the prices are a little low during the winter prices can be lower right around springtime the prices start to jump up because everybody wants to get the project up and running and get a bike. Myself from what I see there I would offer you $200. If the bike is running I'm a edge up to $300. The exhaust system looks after market that's quite a bit of rust on it I would suggest cleaning up the bike as much as you possibly can to get the most money possible. By the date code in the VIN your bike is a 1981 XJ650h. If I showed up and you didn't know the year of the bike price drops even more just the tip

The forum heading states correctly that is a 1981.
And missing front fender, brake not hooked up......I agree with 550h— that’s about where I’d put it around here. That the type of bike I look for as a parts or rebuild project. If complete, and in Really nice condition with all correct parts, ready to go (carbs, valves, brakes, tires, etc....), titled, and pass inspection then you[d be looking at a $1200-1500 bike.

Geez... I live just below Utica and was through Lyons Falls several times in just the past couples weeks!! Wonder how I missed seeing this one.....I did spot an Xj700x in Boonville several times.

Uh-oh.....I’m feeling the urge for another bike to grab——lol

Thank you I know some but not all about these bikes this one is different in a few ways has a front dress 8000 original miles I have all the original parts and switched exhaust system up still too loud we'll just right but ppls ears ring lol it ripps awesome wheeles. Clean title. I've been cleaning her up. The thing that strikes me odd is that every bolt is numbered on the motor any idea why?

What are the numbers? Did someone replace everything with hardened bolts? What do you mean by ‘front dress”? Looks like the front has been UN-dressed.

‘Loud’ Xj’s don’t impress me, and they just annoy neighbors.

wheelies on Xj’s are not safe

The numbers on the motor are the slackening and tightening sequence when splitting and assembling the cases.

I was just going by that he said the bolts have numbers, not that the holes are numbered

Just looking at the fork leg sticker. I wonder how the tests are compared to the Uk? Is the sticker mandatory?

Franz, in the USA most states require an annual inspection. The requirements vary from state to state, some are quite stringient and others IMNSHO are quite lax.

North Carolina is one of those lax states. Motorcycles over 30 years old don't have to be inspected at all. I bought a bike from Pennsylvania and thought I would have to get it inspected at least once when registering it here, but nope. Showed the title signed and notarized and that it had insurance and they handed me a tag, for a fee of course. Which was good for me but, who knows what kind of stuff is driving around out there.

It's down to police checks on the road then for old bikes.

when I go for inspection i give my money and reg to the clerk then the mechanic comes out to look at the bike walks up to it slaps the sticker on the fork then asks me to start it and checks the lights and horn. so not much of an inspection.

I have lived in 3 states, and have yet to need to have a motorcycle inspected, other than when transferring the title to the new state of residence.

PA has yearly inspections, in 40 years, i've gotten maybe 4 inspection stickers. the last guy wiped the float bowls with a kleenex three times then sniffed for gas. then he wanted to take it for a road test, i just left
