I've had some problems with. Y xj 550 running then I wet set the float levels and it runs wonderfull. But after a while it dies but then I prime it again and alot of fule runs in then it runs great for another 10 mins then I have to do it again. Is it a petcock problem? Is my vaccume line to the Petcok too maluable? Any comments are appreciated. Cant state how awesome this site and its members are. Thanks

Next time it is going to cut out open your fuel tank cap. May be a blockage creative a vaccum in the fuel tank. Try the cheapest solution first.

if in doubt on your vacuum line replace it 4mm id vacuum line. the line is cheap and is always a good place to start. when you replace it test the petcock flow and for vacuum leaks at nipple and petcock . use a clamp on both ends.

also the fuel cap easy enough to at least clean and it will allow plenty of air flow into tank
    Your Gas Cap and You

are you using a fuel filter? you want it to be as low as you can get it in relation to petcock.

could be you need to rebuild/replace pet cock due to low fuel flow. tank screen could also be dirty .

Solid advice; back to the vacuum line for a second: ensure that it is actual vacuum line and not just hose. Generic hoses can get overly pliable once warm and cave in on themselves under vacuum. If you put the petcock on PRI, it bypasses the vacuum-op part, and is the same as turning a conventional petcock on. This is a good diagnostic aid if you suspect a vacuum operation issue. You won't hurt anything running the bike with it on PRI just don't forget and leave it on...
