Guys I need a little help from the boards.
I am working out a plan to start a local bike night!!
Need some ideas for some themes and formats to use.
Want to draw some outta towners to the area.
Thinking though a more PG-13 crowd.

Just a few key facts related to the location.

    --Small 4,000 town
--But located one hour from austin, tx and houston, tx
--Get said riders through every weekend

I will have many more questions but this should give me an idea of where to start.
I DO have some help behind me, I hope at least ;)

    Any thoughts?

There is one I attend here. Seems fairly successful (although a bit thin now that there is snow and ice on the roads).

The event is held in the banquet room of a family stylerestaurant. I believe the restaurant has a lot to do with the success because:

    1) The restaurant has a very friendly environment with very people oriented owners who are always there. This leads into:

    2) The owners promote the event to their customers. Not formally, but by inviting everyone they meet that rides.

    3) During riding weather the restaurant blocks off a section of parking (closest to the door) and places "Motorcycle parking only" signage.

    4) The restaurant provides door prizes in the form of gift certificates to the restaurant. There was also an independent powersports shop providing certificates for a free helmet, although that stopped when riding season was over. I'll also begin providing some gift certificates soon to promote my shop.

    5) The president of the local Star Riders Association serves as the informal MC. He handles the door prize drawing and also administers a 50/50 drawing with the beneficiaries being a couple charities the Star Riders support. This is not a Star Riders event though. Anyone can show up and there are even some regulars that don't ride metric bikes at all!

BTW, the restaurant does not serve alcohol which is probably a good thing.

I agree, some of the locals think of bike night as drunk night.

They meet and drive to another destination. While on the way they stop at every pub...I want more than that crap.

    Beer/wine/liq should NOT = MOTORCYCLE!!

I want to attract some of the more mature riders, even though all ages are welcome.
ANY more ideas guys, I know this forum well. There are thoughts floating around(participate lurkers)
