Does anyone know of a source for fork gaiters to fit the XJ650RJ? What other bikes might use the same size, since I can't seem to find any made for the Seca. Thanks

Hello,Dave. You may want to give mikesxs.com a try.I believe their fork gaitors ($20 US) will fit your bike. Best of luck to you!

Aso try auto parts stores. I bought mine from Carquest. They were for a truck shock. Fit perfect. They look cool and protect your upper forks.

Thanks Danno! Went to Mikes and ordered this morning. His price is much better than some I saw on eBay that might not have even fit!

How huge a hassle is installation? I'm assuming I need to pull the forks to put them on, right?

'mikesxs' looks like a great site. But there's no mention of the XJ there, just the XS. Are there interchangeable parts between the two? Namely, are the shocks the same? Been looking to upgrade my rusty pair..

I was going to start a new discussion but decided to resurrect this thread instead.

I've also been thinking of front fork gaiters (as have a couple people recently). I know BigFitz52 has some Kawasaki gaiters made for a KZ550/750 Spectre (PN 49006-1096 for the purists) on his 550 Seca, but the cost of them is about $38 each.

Being the cheap person that I am (I consider it an endearing quality  ), I started to see where several BMW K75/1200 and Suzuki V-Strom riders were getting "universal" truck shock boots for their front forks. Most times people got Rancho black shock boots (PN RS1952) for about $5 each. OK, now we have a horse race! Decided to get a set off ebay to experiment. Got a pair of Daystar shock boots (PN KU20002BK for black) for $4 (including shipping). The ID of the small end is around 33mm and the ID of the big end is around 52mm (relaxed length is about 10.5") but the material is much more "stretchy" than traditional rubber fork gaiters and fits my 750 Seca fork tubes and over the dust boot area just fine.

Each shock boot comes with a black ZIP tie and several colors are available if you don't want black.

I got the same ones, they look perfect and went on like they were made for the bike. I haven't even tried to use the zip tie yet. Not sure what part it's for, anyway.

I've got, I think, 8 rancho red boots in a box in my shop. They're for the truck but the ones on it are fine. Not sure of the diameter but I could certainly measure if anyone is interested.

I did mine as part of the complete front end rebuild/upgrade; however if you remove/reinstall first one fork leg and then the other, you can minimize the hassle. But yes, you do have to slide the forks out of the triple trees to install them.

That's good news on the Mike's XS or truck shock boots; I want to put them on the 650 but didn't want to drop the big $$$ only to have them not really fit.
