Hi guys, I purchase a 81 xj650 midnight maxim as my first project bike and was super excited to get started on it, but hit a snag when I realized I didn’t check for the VIN before hand (rookie mistake) and thanks to everyone on here for trying to help me locate it, but turns out there was nothing on the frame. Now I am looking for another bike preferably a 81 xj 650 because I have a whole parts bike now and I have the itch to get working and I really like this online community. I live 45 min northwest of Toronto (orangeville) , and I am willing to drive anywhere with in a few hours to pick up. If you know of anyone or have one forsale, broken or running, I am more then interested.

    Thanks,
    Devon

Your located in Brisish Columbia? Just out of curiosity how would that work? Say I bought a frame off you And it had a VIN but no paperwork I could then get a public notary so it is in my name then I would be good to carry on? I know rules vary depending on province but I’m just curious

I have the paperwork for the frame, so transfer of ownership is simple. You would have to do an inspection when you registered it in Ontario.

Oh ok, too bad we’re so far away. I wonder what shipping would cost

Maybe all you need is the paperwork and have the new number stamped into the frame

There’s several on Kijiji. Not too close to the GTA but hopefully worth the drive.
    Just searched “Seca”

If you drive to Lyons falls, I’d be interested in the frame with no numbers on it.....I’m only about another 45-50 minutes south of there——-

you do realize that your ‘81-82 Xj650 is going to be the usa’s 1982-only Xj650rj (seca), right? So if you get a bike from the USA, you’ll need to verify that. Otherwise, from the USA, you’ll end up with a Maxim. To compound that. In the USA, they were grouped as follows: ‘80-81.......non-YICS, ‘82-83 YICS. (The ‘82 650rj was a non-YICS). So, you MAY need to clarify your post for USA searches
