These are amazing machines – 750cc inline-4 engine that revs up to 12,000 RPM, yet because of the full fairing, they are considered as “sport-touring” bikes in both ON & QC, so despite that beautiful engine, they are cheaper to insure than my 400. ThePersonal quoted me $536 a year, and I’m a male with an M2 and less than 2 years of experience (the insurance trifecta). These are shaft-driven, so all they need is their normal oil changes – don’t need to worry about oiling & adjusting the chain every few weeks or when it rains.

Everything works perfectly – from dead cold they start easily on the first attempt, don’t even need full choke. They warm up very quickly – from dead cold you can start riding in under a minute (obviously take it easy until everything comes up to temp). All the signals, tail & brake lights work perfectly. Comes with 3 keys, all the paperwork, and the UVIP. Bike is currently registered to me here in Ontario.

These bikes are an absolute pleasure to work on – everything is logical and easy to get at. Parts & accessories are plentiful and readily available as the drivetrain uses the exact same parts as all 1981-1984 XJ750’s, and the rest of the chassis uses the exact same parts as all 1981-1984 XJ900’s. I have a PDF of the factory service manual as well as a hard copy of the Haynes manual which I’ll throw in for free if you buy both.

The mirrors are a little, um, retro. They work well, but you’ll probably want to get something a little more stylish. Any standard Yamaha mirror will fit, mirrors aren’t expensive or hard to swap – most places can swap them out for free, they just unscrew.

They only sold 601 of these in Canada, and now I have 2. If you like, now you can have a matching set too.

Bike #1 - 66,881 km (41,558 miles) - $2,000 CAD firm (approximately $1,500 USD at time of writing)
Bike #2 - 43,829 km (27,234 miles) - $2,500 CAD firm (approximately $1,900 USD at time of writing)

I’ve done every piece of maintenance possible. On both bikes:
    · Rebuilt & synced carbs
    o New jets
    o New float bowl gaskets
    o New intake manifold gaskets
    · Checked valve clearances – within spec on all exhaust & intake valves
    · Checked compression on each cylinder - ~150 PSI across the board, well within spec
    · Aftermarket inline fuel filter
    · New fuel & vacuum lines
    · Oil & filter change
    · Reupholstered the seat
    · Brand new sealed, maintenance free battery
    · Brand new tires mounted & professionally balanced front & back (I’ve travelled maybe 800 meters on them)

    Additionally, for bike #1:
    · New valve cover gasket
    · New stainless exhaust studs & gaskets
    · Fork seals & fork oil
    · Head bearing
    · Re-lined fuel task with Caswell epoxy gas tank sealer
    · New air filter

I can't accept any trades as I have 5 bikes already, this hobby is getting out of hand.

My wife would literally kill me.
    Might be worth it though.

Hahaha. @hogfiddles we live downtown, so not a whole lot of space. I was looking at a racking system earlier today, I could start stacking them... Maybe when I retire and they put me out to pasture, I'll have space for more many bikes in the pasture with me.

@k-moe this is exactly what you need - that way the wife can ride with you - for once you'll be making a purchase for her. Let me know it goes :)

If these are the ones you want to sell what are you keeping? Now very curious as these appear to be very nice. Good luck with your sale.

Hey John, I have three other bikes
    • 2018 Ninja 400 - This is my main ride I'll be keeping, I bought it almost new at 34 km (21 miles). Beautiful bike for getting around the city, I can open it up a little bit on city streets without getting into too much trouble, but still plenty of power for the highway and out of town.
    • 2006 ZX-6R - My most recent purchase. Didn't really mean to, but it popped up for $500 and I couldn't resist. Excellent mechanical condition, just needs to be cleaned up a bit and then I'll resell it. A bit too much power for my taste, I'll get myself into trouble
    • 1984 Goldwing GL1200 - My next project - was stored in a dry barn for over a decade. Got it for $200 CAD (150 USD), it's a solid 9.8/10, will clean up really nice. I intend to keep this one once I fix it up, as it fills a gap on the other end of the spectrum of the Ninja - while the Ninja is great for around town and a couple hours at a time, I want something bigger for the wife where we'll be comfortable for all day driving in case we want to go to Toronto or take a multi-day trip somewhere
I've always enjoyed fixing stuff up, so have to make way for the next projects!

    Thanks!

So I brought the subject up today. The wife started looking at funeral parlors on her iPad (no lie).
I dearly hope that they both go to good homes, preferably the same good home.
