I have to say this is one of the nicest xj's you'll run across. It is in excellent condition physically and mechanically. It has only just over 9000 original miles on it and has been put up in storage for the winter. I am asking $3500 for it but I will take any reasonable offers I am just selling because I need the money to move. You can contact me on here or email me at btown1056@yahoo.com. I can send you pics or check out the new calendar and it is pictured as September.

Exactly and with all collector autos being cars, trucks or bikes in excellent condition they go for more now. If noone wants to give what i'm asking thats fine I will find money elsewhere but thats what it would take to part with this awesome bike.

Yeah, but our bikes aren't collectables yet. Definitely overpriced.

Even if the right (motivated) collector finds your bike, $3500 might still be a stretch. I hate to say this because your bike appears to be in great shape, but I'm afraid the only way you'll command that much coin is if you part it out. And if you do... DIBS ON THE BACKREST! :)

well what I find interesting about that bike is that it says it is an '84 but the XJ700's were only made in '85 and '86 plus mine is alot nicer than that one but everybody is entitled to their own opinion about what something is worth.

And it's a MaximX, which seems to be quite a bit more collectable than the non-X Maxim.

Dammit. That bike's close to where I am.

I'm torn -- I want the bike, but I don't want to spend the money (even though I can afford it easily). Being a cheap bastard can have its drawbacks.

I'm also wary because of what happened last time -- MaximX, lower price, also on Craigslist. I cheaped out and didn't buy the bike... which ended up having a trashed engine. Being a cheap bastard can also have its advantages. :) In any event, I just emailed the guy, and might go out and take a look at it this weekend.

mine may be some what overpriced but not near that much. You always ask more than you'll actually take for a bike but my god man.

Just heard back from the guy with the craigslist ad; he confirms that it is indeed an 85, and watercooled. That would also confirm that it is a Maxim-X.
