    My Parts Auction

    At least they are downunder.

    Just about made me cry.....

But this is what happens when you have no time or storage... Just as well I kept all the good bits.

I won't be investing further money in to big XJ projects... For me it's been a financial mistake because I ran out of time and space.

Read my comments at the end of the auction.

You do have a lot of things that no one would want.. Almost everything you listed was not usable or had rust... I wouldnt have expected any of that to sell honestly.

I'll disagree with Gambek1. I think your mistake was selling it as a lot.

A halfway decent tank is easily worth $50 (US). Somebody needs oil pan, valve cover, rack of carbs for parts etc. easily another $50 each.

Problem is very few people need bits to build most of 2 or 3 bikes. Your bidders likely only bid for the part(s) he needed.

Yep, Reckon most of those parts will appear on ebay individually in no time.

Must be coz you listed the pickup in Henderson. ;)

Too far for the target crowd down in Otara, Mangere or Hamilton.

    SOmeone got a bargain though.

What I meant to say was most of the things he listed have rust.. Most people are going to stay away from those parts or at least I certainly would. He would surely have better luck selling them individually on Ebay.

My sympathies. I'd be very disappointed with the outcome too...

I agree with not selling it as a lot. I did this on ebay with a set of hess trucks. I got beaten to death, barely got back what the one truck was worth let alone the 15 total. I'd sell seperately next time

If i'dhad the time to put in the effort required to sell individually, I would have.

Oh and Gbambeck... Stripping down and selling a the engine parts alone would bring in several hundred dollars, but yes I was just getting rid of the rubbish.

They're worthless until someone needs them. Than they're priceless.

Sorry mate, shipping from NZ makes scooping your parts untenable. I'm sure someone in-country needs them, just gotta get the message out there. Best of luck.

    Holy Crap!!!

And here I thought I had too many motorcycle parts stored inside my garage.
That's the Mother Load of you need a truck (Lorry) to haul that stuff away.

I'd take the whole lot to a Breaker and take whatever he's willing to offer you.
If I had that much stuff hanging around ... I'd be on Bread and Water out-back of the shop in a Tent until it all disappeared.

We can't store much out-of-doors in New England. What with the bad weather in all. But, that would tip the scale for my Old Lady ... and she'd nag me with every beat of her hates-to-see clutter heart!

Ahh but Rick... that lot is stacked in the corner of a garage... Only takes up 2 or 3 square metres
