hi lads, i needed to rebuild my forks including replacing one of the stanchions (inner pipe) but when the new one arrived it was threaded internally for the top plug instead of being held in with a snap ring, so anyone have a threaded plug to sell me? Or just tell me the partnumber ?
    Thanks guys
    Oh, its a 1982 seca 750

the tubes with the snap ring are for maxims with the adjustable compression, i think, i'm not sure your valving is going to work

Thanks Polock, mine is a european spec Seca so maybe the same as a maxim? There is no adjustability in the forks except for air pressure and the current top plug is just a solid plug so if i can get any threaded plug i can seal it,
    Thanks bud.

You'll have to order the plug for that upper tube. Threaded tubes were not used on the XJ series. You have a functional, but not exact, replacement tube.

Thanks K-moe, makes sense to me, might get the tube machined, remove the thread and cut a groove in it, i'll have to ask an engineering company, unless you knowwhat that plug is from or a part number, thanks.

xj1100 uses a threaded fork cap maybe that will fit.
part listed as unavailable In US catalog
    10M-23111-00-00

the maker of your tube may have the proper cap

Radian and FZ600 also have threaded plugs and 36mm tubes.
Radian has plain hex cap, FZ600 has Schrader valve.

I still might have some plugs since I have the same model and another one in parts.
Have to check though wether the plugs are the same with the spare tubes.

Well, i have to disappoint you.. all plugs are screwplugs...
@k-moe.. all the tubes I've got (xj750 seca and xj600) have threaded tubes..??
    Models are from UK/Canada.
But I'm pretty sure I've had xj's with a pushcap...???

Ok, its the threaded plug im looking for my original tube had a plug held in by a spring ring and the one they sent me has a thread, so its a threaded plug im looking for, a plug that screws in a bit down the fork tube and the push cap just fits in the top of the tube as a finisher. Thanks.

All of the NA models of XJ I've seen have pushcaps, up until '84 or so.
I know for a fact that the US '82 Seca 750 only had push caps held with a wire clip, and have only seen refrence to such in the service manuals for all NA and UK delivered machines. None mention a threaded fork cap.
