Doing a rebuild of my 82 XJ 1100.
So upon clean up of the xj1100 head, I see damage on the cam journals. I have access to an xs1100 head but not sure if it will work. would like to know if this is even possible , are they interchangeable between 81 xs and 82 xj ??

They are interchangeable but you won't have the YICS with the XS head. You might also need to use the XS cams.

Thanks. I'll check what YICS does for the XJ to see the benefits

the yics head has a port from 1 side to the other and little holes that go up to the intake side to swirll the fuel into the cylinder to help with full/cleaner combustion.
it was done to meet epa requirments.

same intake boots on xs and xj 1100

the 650 had non yics and yics motors 80.
some say non is a quicker faster bike some say yics is the quicker faster 650

Thanks guys. I feel confident in taking the non YICS head for the fix after reading all about it and some of the differences. As I start my reassembly with the BB piston kit thats coming I will be posting pics and updates.
