Hi everyone. I have an oil leak between cylinders 2 and 3 as you look in from the oil cooler side. Looks like a trickle from where the head stud bolts come up through the cylinders. Not a head gasket leak 100 percent. Could I have a cracked cylinder wall. Very slow trickle of oil coming from in there and coming out onto the fins just above the base gasket. Thanks.

Can you see any oil coming down from the camshaft cover to cylinder head joint? It may be the cam cover gasket it is leaking from.

Sorry I meant just above the BASE GASKET. no oil leaks from anywhere else.
I have an oil soak rag in there to soak up the dribble.

It's coming from the cam cover and running down, 99.99% certain.

Absolutely no leak from cam or head gasket definitely coming out from stud bolt number 2 cylinder and trickling out onto fins. I'm at a loss.

A crack then, or the base gasket or head gasket is damaged and oil is running past it and into the stud bore.

Thanks for the reply. Had the head, base and cam cover gaskets replaced and the two copper head stud washers also. I'll drive her on for another bit and have a look later on prob looking at tearing the head and cylinder off.

What about the o-rings at the cylinder bases, and the oil seals for the oil galleries on #4 (the two outer studs)? Were those replaced with new?

What brand of gasket set was used?

[EDIT] Which model and year of XJ?
