Please summarize a story or something. Don't just put a link not telling us what it's about...

    Moving to General Lounge forum.

Motorcycle driver thrown off Williamsburg Bridge
Leonard Beckett loved his wife, their five daughters and the six foster children they cared for in their Queens home.

Beckett was riding his Kawasaki in the bridge's right lane when he rear-ended a livery town car in slow-moving traffic, police said. Beckett flew over the handlebars and careen off the car's back windshield, over a low wall and into the river.

Beckett was pronounced dead after police recovered his body about 45 minutes after the accident, which happened around 10 p.m.

One of the risks of riding without a seat belt I'm afraid. Ejection in an impact is common. All kidding aside, the risk to a rider cannot be understated.

NY traffic .....crotch rocket.....not surprising....although it is sad to hear when anyone dies, it just lets others know to be more aware of their surroundings, especially that slow moving car in the granny lane.

I very thankful that the writer didn’t demonize motorcyclists. I have seen the press do that way too often. It’s always sad to see someone go doing what they loved.

    Maybe the contrary CT

I guess I'd rather go that way, than go by doing something I hated!
    ...Just a devil's advocate..

    Jeff

P.S. You are right on about the cycle-lynching press though!

Well, I'll give the press a break. After all, everyone who's never ridden a motorcycle knows that riding a motorcycle is the most dangerous thing you can possibly do in life...[IMG]

Did you ever try talking back, etc to your wife?
You'll lible to be walking after she takes you for everything you have.

Sounds pretty harsh! I'm not one to argue, but I'm not sure Ms. Right would be the kind of person I would let into my life if we couldn't disagree about things now and again (it is only human, normal part of life). Hope this person is not with you currently.

Before my new Maxim, I haven't ridden in twelve years.
The reason was that I rear-ended a car. (I totalled both the bike and the car)
Everyone always thinks that it will be the other guys fault, I was trying to read a road sign and didn't notice that traffic was stopped dead in front of me. A simple mistake and I very nearly lost my life. Motorcycling IS dangerous, and no amount of experience or training can change that. I had put 30,000 miles on the bike I wrecked alone. I am very conscious of where I ride now. I avoid super heavy traffic zones, especially area's where there is a center turning lane. I no longer travel at stupid speeds and I always yield to cars.
I don't mean to preach but it was really a life changing moment for me.
