cheapcycleparts.com lists lower plain bearings for the XJ650LK.

Not sure which year you have, or whether the model designations across the pond are the same. You might poke around on their site and see what you find out.

Small parts, so hopefully shipping won't be a killer.

This obscure web page from a automotive/Yamaha dealer in Pleasanton, TX
lists the part number you were looking for in the long list of parts down the page. (If you use "Find on this page" with the part number without hyphens, you'll see it listed.)

    http://www.atascosa.com/parts/yamaha5.html

I don't know if this means they have the part or what, because if you click on "Click here to purchase" it takes you to a search engine with only automotive parts.

So, it's still a big question, but would be worth an e-mail or phone call.

If they have them, but shipping to England is an issue, maybe an XJer in the area could help out.

    Good luck!
    Herb

I got my bearings on my 750 from my local yamaha dealer.
On the 750 and 650 they coded the crank and con rods with numbers.
The crankshaft should have two sets of numbers on one end. The first se of 5 numbers are the Main bearing journal numbers and on second set of 4 numbers is the Rod bearing journal numbers. Both sets of numbers refer to the journals starting at the left side.

The con rod numbers are stamped with ink on the rod itself where the upper and lower shells meet.

The corect bearing selection is made by subtracting the crankshaft journal number from the rod size number.

    Example is given as....
Rod No. minus Journal No equals Bearing No.
    5 - 2 = 3
use a # 3 bearing which is brown

    Bearing Color code
    #1 - Blue
    #2 - Black
    #3 - Brown
    #4 - Green
    #5 - Yellow

Yellow is used only for crankshaft main bearing

You may be able to find rod bearings by size from Federal Mogul. What is your journal diameter and bearing width? Federal Mogul has an online catalogue of bearings you can see here.
    1. Click on Specifications,
    2. then select SEALED POWER as a Brand,
    3. Engine Bearings as a Product Category,
    4. Rod Bearings as a Product Sub-Category,
    5. and finally select your Unit of Measure.
Plug in your rough sizes and see if there's anything available to make a bearing out of.

I think I ran across that page when I was looking for an oil cooler adapter plate. They took a couple of weeks to get back to me, and when they did, they didn't have it. I wouldn't put too much stock in that place.

Why do you think that the Turbo version of that engine uses "different' shells? Dunno just asking? Automobile turbo engines don't have turbo specific bearings. Also Heretical as it may seem getting the ' correct' colour coded shell is wildly optimistic (dare I say utter unecessary) on a 205 yr old Moto.
Those computer designated tolerances (matched shell for each bearing clearance) were for ease of assembly of the Production line motor.. saved discards basically.. but after so many years/mileages those tolerances are long gone, and if you had a regrind the machinist *should have eliminated them... or if incompetent, added his own.

I'd guess a tougher "babbitt" alloy of lead in the same dimention, so "stock" 650 bearings would fit, but wouldn't hold up.

This is a total guess. My turbo 650 is available--2400 miles
never been touched by American hands.
