A thought just occurred to me. Hogfiddles probably has more XJ inventory than a Yamaha shop in the 80's.

At least more 900’s than a shop could get!! I just read an interview where a guy said he had worked at a shop and the most a shop could get was 2.

just brought the next one in line in. She’s been sitting for 3 yrs....... a little jump from a booster, a few spins with petcock on prime— and she fired right up. At about the 1.5 minute mark the idle smoothed out, and rode her home.

special thanks go out to 550H, and XHondaHack, for some much-needed parts for me to buy. There’s several more to go after this one, and now I can get some that much closer to coming back to life:)

    Lol

when I got one fairing, I was also surprised to see it’s colored inside... all I had previously seen were flat black. I assumed the previous owner had it painted. But, in the past few days I have seen 4 that are colored inside, and it sure looks like factory paint to me. So, now it seems they came flat black Or painted inside.

    Green signal indicators, that’s strange.
    Cool collection of 900’s.

No fenders are cut. All three are totally intact. NONE of my bikes have butchered fenders.

Yeah, I noticed the signal indicators being different at the clinic. It's a fun game to play : try to spot non-stock stuff before Dave points it out.

Update on the one I just pulled in to start freshening:

scroll back up about 7 posts to see the “Before” pics...

-Three out of the four exhaust pipes had a lateral crease.... looked like some tried to ride over a curb?

The collector outputs were rusty/pitted/holes. One shield was damaged. Otherwise, it may actually be repairable.

    Mufflers were non-existent.

work done up to this point:
    -replace complete exhaust system
-replace broken cowl (doesn’t look bad, but it was cracked around the headlight, mounting points were broken, etc.....)
-Front tiny LED signals replaced with oem (Rear still to be done)
    - mismatched side cover replaced
    -missing kickstand replaced

Now——it looks like this at the moment.

Again, extra thanks to some of our members who had much needed parts available, to fill in where my parts stash came in empty-handed.

This one will get some more things done yet to be at least respectable, then I’ll be able to get one or two more to respectable condition before the others go onto the back burner to wait their turns.
