    Alright.

So I bought a Seca. Love it. The wind resistance is crazy so I want to install the fairing/windshield. I dont know how to do so... I look at the fairing...there are two metal prongs with bolt holes on it....but I look at the bike....and theres nowhere to be seen as to where I plug it in....

Could someone give me a step-by step instruction manual as to how to put the fairing on? I ask this because I don't even know what hardware peices I have work with it (I got a bucketful of hardware along with the bike)

If the metal ( Prongs) are next to your headlight hole and are flatbar, they go on your headlight screws on the outside of your headlight bucket. I had to adjust mine a few times to get it right.

If you can let me know what style of fairing you have, I can probably help you. I am in the middle of converting an XJ750 that never had a fairing to one that will have the same fairing as the XJ 600 and 900's had.
Pictures of what you have would help.

You CA guys tick me off! Worried about putting parts on your bikes. I still have at least three more months till the snow melts! Regardless, I stomped through the snow to the shed and got you a couple photos.
First photo is the upper mount. It's pretty straight forward.
Second photo is the bottom bracket. The back of the bracket has a hook the catches the top of the lower triple tree. The front of the bracket attaches to a flat piece that runs horizontal and you will see two holes in the bottom of your fairing that bolts it to this horizontal bar.

    Hope this helps.

    PS Did I mention that it's -20 C here! (-4 F)

If you add your bike info to your signature line, it helps everyone know what you have, and what you need.

Thank you, thank you, thank you RangerG for answering the question with photos and to IllontheHill for for asking the question before I had to. I bought a faring off of ebay that had the brackets included but I couldn't find how they were supposed to be mounted.

You are more than welcome. I'm sure this kind of thing is exactly what SnoSheriff had in mind when he created this site. I can't imagine trying to rebuild an XJ bike 10 or 15 years ago, without the info from the internet.

Yeah, Thanks Ranger! More than helpful.

It seems I don't have the brackets. :( Looks like a trip to the scrap yard for me. (As if I don't enjoy going there... lol)

    Fixed the sig too. Thanks
