So I had a stall last week, and the bike fell over. I've been trying to keep it from happening again. Today while sitting in my drive way with the bike fully warmed up. I noticed the idles at about 500rpms (between 1k and 0). It will idle for a while an slowly go down till it just shuts off.

While practicing low speed moves I noticed it will do this, keep getting low rpms an want to stall. I think this is the issue that caused me to drop it last week.

Does anyone know what will cause the idle to keep dropping till the engine shuts off? It has fuel, the gas cap is tight and sealed. Carbs were just rebuilt by the previous owner, and they are all in great shape.

Any help would be great. Not trusting the bike has keep me from riding.

Idle speed set too low? Are all cylinders firing? The last thing I'd do it check the carbs again. I re-checked my carbs and although I know the previous owner rebuilt them. I saw the floats were set 5mm too low.

I don't know how to do that. So I guess its time to find a shop to take the bike to.

I think you should buy a Hayne's manual on your bike. Most of the stuff isn't as difficult as you think. And sometimes shops.... can do a poor job...I'm sure we all know from experience. I assume the carbs on the 650 are similar if not the same for a 750. There's a little screw on the back of the carb. You can reach it on the right side of the bike. Turn it clockwise to raise RPM. Counter-clockwise to lower RPM. Try to turn it so you get around (I think for XJ650, 1050 rpm) Blip the throttle a bit. Make sure it is returning to a normal idle and not a high idle or bog down below normal idle. I've had my bike on it's center stand for months now. I'm making 100 percent sure it's not gonna do something funky before I take it out for a spin.

I turned the idle up, seems to run fine now. I hope that fixed it.
