I added a third support connecting to the top of the rear shock and I put a 50lb barbell weight on it to keep it stable on right turns. Works like a charm! I spent about an hour this morning riding the icy streets of the neighborhood. When's the last time you did donuts on a motorcycle? :D

    Happy Trails!

That's awesome. It reminds me of a snowmobile with motorbike wheels that I saw in Michigan...

It really bugs me that your third wheel is on backwards.

Also, you could fill that tire with sand and ditch the weight.

    Photographic evidence!

"Some people just have too much time on their hands!"

You definitely ARE one of those people.

Start working on a frame and body and make yourself a sidecar!

"..... you could fill that tire with sand and ditch the weight."

Or you could replace the unused brake disc with a circular saw blade and really get among the pedestrians, a la Queen Boadicea!

I just may take mine one step farther and make some kind of storage compartment on the "side-car" mod to make it more useful. I figure if I'm going to take the time to fabricate one, I may as make it functional. I think I may need to put the front fender back on for the winter months too!! :? PD

sanoke, you gotta turn that wheel around, though. The spokes are spinning the wrong way around. :)

Did you say Queen Boadicea!? Now THERE'S a woman! Never thought I'd see her name in this forum...

Which reminds me, what about LEFT turns with that wild three wheeled contraption?

Left turns on an outfit? You either need a very athletic passenger who will jump up and lean out across the seat, or a very fat girlfriend to ride pillion behind you and hold the whole thing down. For right turns, you put her in the chair.
(And the reverse is true if you ride on the left like we do. I have often adapted to riding on the wrong side of the road, but with an outfit...!!!! I'd rather be an Iceni warrior facing the Romans!)

Not sand,.....Water......like we used to use on tractors.

Fill with water, top up with air to pressure.

Better put some antifreeze in with the water, or you'll come out to rider her after she's been sitting all night and find it a little out-of-balance.

PainterD that's not a lawnmower, that's his handicap scooter or what ever you call them.

I just noticed that my lawn mower would fit on it! I don't need to carry a handycap scooter just yet and hopefully not for a long time!!!

Should you be opertating a motorcycle if you need a scooter? I just now got an image of a motorcycle in the handicap spot at walmart with a handicap pass hanging off of the mirror. (its most likely a big goldwing)

Years ago I had a Honda XL250 (!!!) with a sidecar, which consisted of a platform riding on a rubber sprung wheel from a Renault R4. I went down to the local Honda dealer and (for nothing) got a big wooden crate, sanded it down, braced the corners, fitted a plastic lawn chair with the legs cut off, and some padding, then used it to transport EVERYTHING for the next five years. The box would hold two adults or three children (I just happen to have three children), lots of camping gear, a month's groceries or another motorbike. (I once carried an XL175 a very long distance in it)
The XL250 had a 305 kit and a few other modifications, but gave years of largely trouble free operation. Once it stripped the kick start gears, and it blew head gaskets fairly regularly, but that was the fault of the big-bore kit.
It was more fun to ride than any bike I've had before or since, and was immensely practical transport.

That is kinda my idea. I don't really need to take along any passengers. I would just like to make a sidecar plaform with some type of storage unit on it.
I did a google search today and found some guys that did some wild things with sidecar fabrication. The possibilities are endless. I guess I needed to know the basics from a safety standpoint and go from there. It looks like the fabrication will be a piece of cake. It will definetely shorten the off season with it!

For winter driving and unit like that attached to say a TW200 with those big knobby tires......... that would be pretty good in snow I think...
