Hi, I recently bought a 1984 maxim 650. I just cleaned the carbs and got it running, but it only runs on cylinders 2&3. The main thing stumping me is cylinders 1&4 have spark but won't fire, that's why I cleaned the carbs, but I still have the same problem.

    Any help is appreciated, thanks.

If there’s spark but no fire, that narrows it down. You need spark, gas, and air.

but, first make sure you have the coils hooked up correctly

Currently the coils are hooked up 1&4 and 2&3, and I recently cleaned the carbs and they looked fine, the only thing I haven't truly checked is compression, but it seems to be about the same as the two running cylinders.

if there's spark then it's compression issue or the cylinders aren't getting gas. check the plugs r wet with gas

The cylinder 1 plug is wet and the cylinder 4 plug is dry, I drained the carb bowls on 1 and 4 to check if they where getting gas to the carb, but the 1 cylinder bowl nothing came out and the cylinder 4 bowl was full, but I did notice that the spark plug boots are different brand on the 1&4 cylinders.

make sure 1/4 and 2/3 Coils are connected to the correct connectors, too
