Looking for a motor with solid compression numbers to put into a complete bike. Doesn't need to have a starter.

Hogfiddles is explaining that there is no such thing as an XJ 500 motor.
There is a XJ550 engine though.

No he’s not…….he’s explaining that the xj500 is exceedingly rare, and you’re gonna have a really hard time finding an engine for an xj500. You may want to consider getting an engine for an Xj550rj, th0ugh……..it would be a LOT easier. Barring that, get one for the Xj550rj Maxim.

I don’t think it’s Japanese-market-only.... I think it’s Euro, too, and I believe it was a pretty popular model in the Euro market. Whatever the case, USA didn’t get it.

Geez. Here we were hoping to see something you don’t see every day……….what a letdown.:(

alright…….are you looking for a 550 Maxim engine, or a 550 seca engine? Or doesn’t it matter to you?

And here I thought the Seca and Maxim motors were the same. They aren't?

    Mostly the same.

However - different cams and different carb innards to go with them.

    Seca is "more sporty".

Well, I have the Seca carbs, so only need the motor itself.
