Doing end of season jobs. Considering pulling apart all electrical connections I can find and greasing them. Bike runs fine with no electrical issues. But it's 40 years old. Grease or not?
Or leave well enough alone, if it ain't broke don't fix it?
Anyone go down this road, how did it go?

As I always say 'if an't broke didn't fix it '. If you take a connection apart for repair then I would apply some dielectric grease then. The grease dose not improve electrical contact but stops moisture getting into the connection. Dielectric grease is not conductive.

So after 40 years corrosion would not be occurring in All connections? Just don't want to be stuck on side of the road if a little preventative would help.
Sounds like a bit of a gamble but so is riding.

Depends on how the bike has been used/stored over the years.

My bike is one owner, and has never been stored outside, driven every season. So far, no issues with electrical connections (except for the self-destructing fuse box, which has been replaced).

Going to swap out the ignition module to test a used one I just bought. Also got complete motor with carbs starter and alt had 9000km on it. Got lucky!

Use the dielectric grease sparingly. This is not when "bigger the glob the better the job" comes in.
