You will need to weld supports in for the duck tail.
The double seat fits without it, mind you.
Albeit a big ugly showing the underside.

    cheers for that
I've got the double seat and as I said I'm not sure about that duck bill and I sure as shit don't want to go with saddle bags or panniers.
I have the 84 model 750rl fairing and bottom cowling , so with a bit of help I'm looking to do an infill/full fairing similar to the kawazaki gpz900
the one made famous by tom cruise in top gun
so the duck bill might work but I'm certainly open to other options,

    Cheers

Which model are you calling the duck bill?
I know little about the police special but it looks to me that it shares the tank and side covers with the 82 750RJ.
If that is the case then what I think you want is to mount the 750RJ tail and hinged seat assembly.
You would need to compare your frame to this pic below.
I converted my Turbo to the 650RJ by just grafting the tail section of the frame over.
I had to install the seat hinges, not sure if your police bike has hinged seat.
Once you have the frame converted just collect all the parts in the seat and tail assemblies.

Here's a pic of my conversion - Turbo to 650RJ.
You can see the butt welds where the frame is pieced together.
Finding a scrap 750RL frame shouldn't be too difficult, assuming this was sold in Australia.
