I'm planning to have a clutch cover powder coated but unsure how the oil level window assembly comes out.
Chacal lists replacements so they must come out.

    From the back.
There is a metal backing plate to remove, and a rubber gasket that the sight glass fits into.
You just pop it out with your thumb.
Best to get a new gasket since the old one will be a bit hard, and will likely crack a bit.

There are 2 roller cage bearings in this cover, too much trouble to remove. No powder coating for this cover

Just to clarify further with the site glass, it does pop out as K-moe suggested.
It looks just like a bearing oil seal and comes as a replacement assembly from Chacal.
Pops in and out as 1 piece.

I pulled the clutch cover off my spare 900 motor and will be using that.
A PO had repainted it and it looks ok. I will however still powder coat the round cover at the centre of the clutch cover.

if the bearings have metal cages, the temperature shouldn't hurt them

I thought about that to, more worried about the sandblasting process, maybe it can be masked, I’ll see what they say.

I'm looking to clean or replace the engine oil level window on my 1980 4K0 (UK) XJ650. Please could someone confirm the method of removal and re-fitting the new window. When re-fitting the window, is any sealant/glue required. I've got a clutch cover gasket and a new part is available for ~£20.

Found this video for a WR250R, presumably it's very similar for an XJ650,
