Engine had a pretty bad leak before I got it and have a feeling it ran for awhile and caked on there. What would you recommend to clean this up? I've fixed the leak and would like this thing to be clean before i get it back on the road as it just looks gross.
Before i start going into product after product, i'd like to see what you guys suggest as far as cleaners go and how you've used them for things like this.

Simple green and a stiff non-metal brush works wonders. Toothbrush for all the little spots.

Here was mine after that step:

Simple Green and a small brush as stated is great for degreasing. Just be careful not leave it on paint for long periods of time, as it will dissolve some paints.

I use it in model building to strip paint....
