ok replying to my post earlier, the exhaust backfire probably is fuel related cause when i fire her up it does fill the garage with very gasy smelling smoke, do i need to do something with the fueal air mixtue? if so if i close all four mixture screws is there a general rule of how many turns to bring them back out? sorry new to an carb issues except for quadrajets!

Have you done an oil change since fixing the carb issues? If the carbs were flooding before then you might have fuel in the oil. I think that can cause backfiring too. (Maybe one of the sages will correct me on that though.)

look into a 14mm colour tune or color tune [Canadian or US spelling]and carb sink.Changing the mix can sometimes change the sink.1st read the plugs any good car bike or truck repair manual has pics of the plugs ie:black sut is carbon build up this will tell you how things are burning in the head.
