So I have a 1982 Yamaha XJ 650 maxim. Got the bike. Turn signals don’t work. I believe they are wired correctly. I attached some pics to show what the turn signal wire. The brown wire on each turn signal are not connected. I don’t even know where to begin.

    thanks for any info

This photo shows what the stock connections look like, if that helps. You can see the sort of "two wire" connector connecting to the single wire that is the turn signal. In other words, the connection kind of forms a "Y".

You had a similar thread on turn signals before:

    https://www.xjbikes.com/forums/threads/turn-signal-issue-help.101149/

Did you follow through with any of that - changing bulbs or changing flasher to a type that works with the lower wattage?

That's a pretty common failure on the switch, hopefully it's all you need

That looks like R/Y, which would be headlight circuit - should have 12V though if the key is set to "ON" and the main fuse is good

Signal wiring (turn signals) are Brn

The main take in the other thread was you can't run low wattage bulbs with the stock flasher, so just keep that in mind as you sort out the wiring and switches

So traced some of the flasher relay I believe from the wire diagram. And they are just cut. They go no where. Is there anyone that can tell
Me where the flasher relay would be on my bike

"XJ650 Maxim and Midnight Maxim models:

Flasher: near the steering headpipe, on right side frame rail, under the right side ignition coil.
Flasher canceller: under the rear of gas tank, behind ignition coils
Starter motor solenoid/relay: on right hand side, attached to and behind the battery box.
Diode block: inside the headlight housing.
Starter/Ignition cut-off relay (no color): behind the turn signal self-canceller. (note: the drawing and the description in the service manual is wrong).
1980-81 Sidestand (kickstand) relay (blue): did not use.
1982-84 Sidestand (kickstand) relay (blue): frame bracket outbound of LH frame tube, just behind the left ignition coil.
Headlight relay (yellow): behind the left frame side cover, on the plastic regulator-rectifier mounting plate. (note: the drawing and the description in the service manual is wrong).
Neutral switch: in a hole in the bottom of the crankcase, just "outside" of the oil pan, on the bottom of the engine, up inside a recessed "well"."

just a note about your testing, in the picture with the " digital multimeter"-- DMM, the black (negative) lead from your DMM should go onto ground, to check for 12v at the live wire

So I don't really think you should expect to find one when you showed us the cut wires in post #10. You will have to repair those wires by adding a connector or terminals and then installing a flasher relay of your choice. If you look up under the frame tubes just above the valve cover you should see a bracket welded to the frame where the original flasher relay hung
