I recently bought a 1982 XJ650 Maxim. The left side turn signals work fine. The front right turn signal turns on but does not flash, and the rear right turn signal doesn’t turn on at all. It appears I have 21 watt bulbs instead of the required 27 watt bulbs. I imagine this would cause the left side to not work either though, so I assume the bulbs can’t be my problem. The problem doesn’t change when I swap bulbs around either (I’m still going to buy new bulbs though). The relay doesn’t make any noise besides an initial click when the right side is turned on, is it possibly the relay? Otherwise, I noticed that the front left flasher has a small ground wire connecting the bulb “seat” and the housing. The front right flasher does not have this wire. Is that the problem? In case it means anything, my horn isn’t working either. Brake light, idiot lights, and headlight work. Thanks for any advice!

The Flasher requires a minimum current to operate so the right rear not illuminating is the problem - you eliminated the bulb so now you need to pull out the wiring diagram and DMM and find out why the right rear is not illuminating. Could be as simple as the bulb socket corroded or not making contact or a poor connection in one of the bullet connectors that feed the right rear

It should be safe to assume the Flasher Relay and Left Control switch are functioning normally per what you described above

I just experienced this. Left turn signals would blink twice and stop. Right were completely fine. Tested the flasher relay and it was fine. I popped the lenses off and just happen to notice while checking the bulbs, if I pushed the left front one in and held it there the left side blinked fine. The left front socket was pretty corroded. Sorted that, and they flash fine now.

Thanks for the responses! It turns out that it was indeed the bullet connectors feeding the rear flashers. The connection isn’t great but I can fiddle with them until the right side flashes too. I’ll clean them and hopefully it will stay good. Thanks again for the help.
