    Hi fellow XJers and others!

Finally broke 50k this and wondering if there are any mileage-based services to do? Other than the typical, such as valve check - which I already did last week, before the recent ride.

I would remove the final drive shaft and lube the splines, and due to the age it would make sense to completely strip and overhaul the brake system, including new braided brake hoses.

Congrats on 50k!! Now that it is broken in you can really start to ride it.

My question would be: do you have records of when things like front brakes, rear brakes, forks, carbs, etc have been done? Or are do we need to assume that things have never been done?

Thanks for the replies. I should have led with the fact that Ive already done the list of "things these old bikes need when you buy em used and neglected", essentially all the above and much much more. Been a member and XJ owner 11 yrs, and 25 of the 50k are mine, including the upkeep along with it.

I was thinking more of what routine maint is standard at 50k, for instance if this was an 8 yr old bike and not 40 lol.

I already took care of the final drive oil around 35k, which is the only other longer term maint i am aware of. Could be that no one expected that many miles on these so there isnt something formally indicated, ha.

I change the final drive oil every 6-10k, splines - at least the front ones - are not lubed by final drive oil and need the appropriate grease.
