Oil level concern

    Hello again. She runs!! Cleaned the carbs good, checked seals, cleaned air filter, changed petcock, fired up immediately. Idles no problem, sounds good.

    I changed the oil, 10w-40, filled to the top of the sight glass. Filled the filter before installing. No leaks after 2 weeks. Before starting for the first time, I noticed the oil dropped to about the middle of the glass. I topped it off, and it went back up. Fired up, ran about 8 minutes, rejoiced because my clumsy ass actually made something work, and then I noticed the oil was back to the middle of the glass. I’m really hoping this is normal. Not leaking anywhere I can see, I looked hard. Carbs didn’t have oil residue and exhaust smoke isn’t white/blue/black etc. Am I going crazy, or is this abnormal? TIA

    Oil heads for the bottom of the oil pan and is pumped around the engine when running. So when engine is off the level goes up a little.

    Take a deep breath your oil level should have a slight bubble at top of sight gauge , you don't want to over fill oil .
