"Primary" chain guide: 3 screws or only 2?

    Yep, it's the perennial disintegrating starter and alternator ("primary") chain guide. But the old one (it's a 1981 or 82 UK XJ750) used three fixing screws; the new one only needs two; there's no lug for the middle screw. Have I got the wrong part, or were changes made? The new one is part number 4H7-11474-01. I'm beginning to think I imagined the third screw, as it's been a while since I stripped the engine down!

    By the way, I've found several chunks of plastic plus loads of little bits; but I am still missing about an inch and a half of guide; is this typical?

    The revised part only has two connections - at the ends.
