    Hi Everyone,

Does anyone here know where I can download a copy of a Safety Standards Checklist I can use to check over my wife's bike to get it ready for a safety inspection?

    Thanks,
    Chuck

I can't think of anyplace off hand but I can tell you from recent experience that they check the following:

    Horns
    Signal lights
    Brake lights
    Head light
    Licence plate light
    Front brake
    Fork seals
    Rear brake
    Rear brake pedal height
Tires - tread, condition of rubber
    Kill switch
Any reflectors required for that model of bike

Some shops also check the following:
    Bike runs
Bike doesn't jump out of gear
    Exhaust mounting
    Swing arm condition

That should be the brunt of it. I'll have a look for my inspection and scan it to the forum. No promises though - it's been awhile since I seen it...

    Good luck!

I just had mine done, they check all of the above, and the guy checked my chain (found out that it was stretched and needed a new one). They also check all the wheel bearings and neck bearings.

At most places if you take the bike in ask for a pre-safty they well tell you what it needs. You can fix it. Then they will safty it, Just for the cost of one safty. Hope that helps
