I rode my XJ down to visit my mum a few years ago she lives 1400 km away so the first day I rode 900kms to stop at my brothers overnight.
I't rained the whole way and I mean rained, poured, bucketed arrived at my brothers and after I had taken a couple of steps [while my brother is in stitches]I realised that the soles of my boots were falling off thats when you know its been wet.
They were old friends those boots bought them when got my first bike only lasted 20 years just dont make quality anymore.
They were never the same after the repair so they got binned.
Its a long trip home in sports shoes.

I started out riding an RD200 Yamaha; bought it new and it was a real pretty little thing.

I live in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, canada, which is right on the Canada/US border at the top of the Michigan upper peninsula.

I rode my trustworthy 83 650 Maxim to Missouri. The trip down, it hads been threatening rain all the way. I already had my rain gear on.

Less than a half hour outside of St Louis at almost noon, it started to downpour, and I mean we're talking cats and dogs here. Lots of traffic and visibility was reduced. I wear glasses, and the face shield of my helmet wasn't in all that great condition, so my visibility was reduced even more. I had already slowed to about 40mph (less than the posted minimum speed limit), when four transports passed me. I may have well as just gone for a drive in a lake they threw so much water at me. I figure "lunch time"

I ended up pulling off onto Route 66 and ate at an actual old diner. It was cool.

It was also then that I realized that, while I was wearing my raingear, I had neglected to bring extra footwear.

well, have had a couple of "intense" rides...
    1. -10 degrees Celcius with half a meter snow. Had a drive of about 100km one way, thus 200 km that same day to get back home.

    2. (couple of times) in about -10 with mist at night. Had to drive ONTOP of the white lines to make sure I was following the highway, maximum speed of 60kph that

    3. Driving on a highway entering a tunnel, ramp down. at that moment it starts to hail, ice cubes of the size of half a pingpong ball... nearly drifted sideways down the ramp 8)
