I've searched the archives and tried to verify re: the parts manual, but I'm stumped (or at least not sure).

I have an 81 Seca 750 and 81 Maxim 650. I need pipes for the 750. I need a front caliper, Rt side cover, and kickstand for the 650 Maxim.

I have a chance to get an 81 550H (per the VIN, I believe it's an '81 550 Maxim). It has a nice Kerker exhaust, but the rest of the bike looks pretty beat. Would I be able to put the exhaust on my 750 Seca and front brake, sidecover, and kickstand on my 650 Maxim?

Thanks very much for any help from the collective wisdom. I've been scouring the forums and photos and some of you guys have built some beautiful stuff.

Yes, the exhaust system from a XJ650 bolts right up to a XJ750. I have a 650 Maxim exhaust headers and collector box on my 750 Seca with shorty mufflers and it fits perfect. I didn't even put new crush gaskets (highly recommended) on and it doesn't leak a bit!
Infact, there are several parts that you can swap from a 650 to a 750. I have the tank from a 650 Maxim on my bike also (see in photo) and the rear wheel. >PD<

Thanks a lot for the reply, but I'm trying to see if parts from a 550 Maxim will fit onto a 650 Maxim and 750 Seca ,all the same year.

PS - I really like your bike. I've been admiring it and your forwards in a bunch of posts I've looked through.

The 550 is a whole different bike. Engineering and styling wise.

The frame and drive is designed for Chain Drive, so the associated other parts are going to be bike specific to the 550 and not the 650/750.

There are some electrical carry-overs; but not much.
    Solenoid, relays and such.

Everything else is going to be 550 of need fabrication to be used elsewhere.

Bummer. I was hoping the sidestand and front caliper would be the same. That would have made it worth it, since I know the slip-ons would fit.
