The bike is giving a wah wah wah noise during steady state driving (~35-40 mph). It is difficult to accurately pinpoint from where the noise is originating while driving. I can pull in the clutch and the noise continues until speed is probably less than 20 mph; this step would seem to eliminate the noise coming from the engine since the engine speed is reduced to an idle and yet the noise is unabated.
    Ideas?

Speedometer and/speedometer cable, drive gear on the front wheel hub. Easiest is to clean and lube the cable in the sheath. Then retest. There are threads here about cleaning & lubing the speedometer itself also.

I agree. Check the final drive oil though. It's not where the noise is coming from, but you probably haven't checked it in a while, just like I haven't.

Checked the speedometer cable and it was slippery smooth. That said, the noise has been absent this last week. It might be the speedometer itself but I will refrain opening that can of worms until/unless the noise rears its head again.

The final drive oil level is full. I was wondering if it might be the driveshaft splines and if so, it appears the swing arm has to be removed. I haven’t pulled off the swing arm and am not sure what it entails. I read the service manual and without the parts in front of me, I am sort of lost - maybe with wrench in hand it will start to make sense.

Remove the insturment cluster by removing two 10mm nuts , unthread the speedometer cable. Remove the four screws from the rear cover, remove the three 10mm nuts and remove the bracket. There are two cheese head screws remove these , unthread the trip odometer . There are six to eight screws holding the bezel on remove them and once bezel is removed carefully remove the speedometer. Once you have it out , do not touch face plate you do not want finger prints on it. Be careful of the needle it can break easy. Use a cotton swab apply a light amount of axle grease to the gears , use wd40 with a nozzle looking down you will see the gimble roller spray a little bit there . The stem where cable attaches , I usually push grease into it. Note you wont have to disconnect any wires and although this sounds complicated it really isn't should only take about 30 minutes. The first time I was out riding my Seca and it was making a noise like JT8 jet engine ( miss working on them) good luck
