Hi everyone, I am brand new here and hoping for some help. Kind of in over my head. I bought two bikes from a guy who was mid-project, a 650 and 750 Yamaha. I'm not even sure which one my bike is to be honest. Not sure how to tell. Anyways my dad and I got the bike running well and then I decided to cafe the bike and started in with a motogadget m-unit. Now I can't get the bike to start or spark. I am not much of an electrical minded person. I am trying to learn but it's going very slowly, even the diagrams posted I get pretty confused once i get into them I have looked over all of the posts in here and online of this and can't seem to put it together for myself. I am super lost trying to wire the regulator rectifier and ignition unit. The bike currently turns over but I don't have any spark. I'm fairly certain it has to do with the ignition unit. Can anyone help a poor soul? I attached some pictures of where I am stuck.

Honestly, I think Motogadget owes the motorcycling community at least an apology, and probably some money. They sucker you into buying an almost $500 box with blinky lights that doesn't get you any more reliability or utility than a $20 fuse box, and gets you into situations like this. There is not a single problem it solves, but it sure seems to be creating some.

Oh, well. Looks like you are well into the demolition of your wiring, so you are probably stuck with finishing it, if you want a running bike.

Those pictures are tiny, and don't really show anything useful. I see you holding wires, but really not sure what you are asking.

M-Unit has everything labeled. The bike parts do not, and a schematic is the only real way to know what those wires are. You can try searching for "pinout" for each component, but a lot of these bits don't really have them well documented. No reason to - the factory figured you would just plug the right part in.

Start with this: which M-Unit do you have? Motogadget makes a couple of different ones.

Hi, I can’t really see from your pics. I installed an M unit blue on my XJ650. It’s a good unit and fairly easy to connect.
I did do a video on this, check this link,

this should help you as I included a couple of wiring diagrams. I also added the RFID module as well as the M button which reduces the number of wires going to the handle bars.
    Hope this helps

Thanks for the responses. Miraculously I got it started yesterday. Mezzmo I have watched your m-unit video probably 15 times in the past two years trying to get it going. So now it starts but doesn't want to idle... so on to the next problem lol. I am a sucker for blinky lights. I've learned a lot jumping through the hoops at least.
