In desperate need of help people. An rebuilding, what was a total basket case, of an ‘81 XJ 750 Seca. Up to the wiring stage.
Main loom is in and connected to all components.
Problem arises at the front of the loom where nothing marries up to the handlebar
    switch wires.
Both the loom and switch blocks are supposed to be from an ‘82. Nothing fits.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. cheers

    Are you sure that:
    1. The harness is from a seca not a maxim?
    2. The handlebars, controls, and gauges are for the seca not a maxim?

Both came from the same wreckers. (Guess that doesn’t mean much)
Everything from the coils back (on the loom)
match the components perfectly. And match the wiring schematic. The RH switch block has the fog lamp switch, so I’m guessing it’s Seca.
That’s as far as it matches.
I must point out there is NO instrument cluster with the bike.
    Cheers for your reply

    1. Al those plugs go into the headlight bucket
    2. That’s not a 750 seca front on the bike

Thanks for that. Not with you regarding front end. Sorry.
Does that mean I must have dash cluster, to connect it all up.
I’m a Polaris qualified tech, but this has me confused

Well, kinda.... but the headlight bucket is where almost all of the electrical connections are made.
Your handlebars, triple clamps, and looks like forks (but they’re blurry) are from a maxim. That’s not a problem, but your wiring harness should match whatever cluster goes with it.
You CAN GO WITH A MINIMAL WIRING diagram if you’re good with that sort of schematic. It’s posted here in the forums...
