Not sure if this is in the right forum or not. I just recently bought a 1985
Xj 750 from what I understand there's just a handful of little things that need to be fixed/ replaced on it. I'm looking for parts. And everywhere I look I'm unable to find things made for the 85- 750.
    So here's my question.
Are there parts, like the petcock and such that are cross compatible like maybe a xj 700 to a 750 or a older year of the same bike.

If you are absolutely sure that it is an 1985 XJ750---which was only available in Canada and which has a serial number with "1FL" in positions 4, 5, and 6 of the complete VIN---then you can safely assume (besides some of the few unique internal engine parts) that it is the same as a 1985-86 XJ700-X model.

A very rare bike, especially in the USA, as it was imported in from Canada at sometime during its life.

According to the title it's a 85 xj 750. I'll check the vin about 2 1/2 hour away from home ATM.

A title is just a piece of paper, and can contain incorrect information. The VIN number stamped into or otherwise noted on the bike frame is the only information that can be 100% trusted and is the most accurate testimony of what a bike (or any vehicle, for that matter) truly is.

Yah I'll make a point to check the vin soon. I'll get back to you with that at some point. Probably tomorrow as I'm due to be home at around midnight.
However keep in mind, I'm in NW Ohio within hours from the Canadian border so one winding up here is a very great possibility as it's not a lot of traveling to get it. But yes I'll check the vin

I'll keep that in mind. I don't care weather it's a 750 or a 700 just trying to figure out my next steps in getting this thing running

You have an XJ700N Maxim air-cooled.

The XJ700-X Maxim liquid-cooled was sold in the USA but an XJ750-X was sold in Canada.
Therefore everyone assumes that Canada also had a 750 air-cooled version.
    All the air-cooled Maxims from 85/86 were 700 cc's.
If you look down between cylinders 2 & 3 you'll see 696 embossed on the block.

You guys called it. After running the vin and looking it up it's a xj700 from 1985. Makes finding parts easier for sure. Thanks for the help guys

    You mentioned the petcock.
You can rebuild the one you have with new rubber parts.
Chacal is on this thread already.
Just send him a private message and he will quote you the parts.
