Congratulations on the sucess, enjoy the road!
Emissions on a bike? First time I've heard of that, especially in AZ. I know newer bikes are a thought but yours hardly constitutes new. Is this a recent requirement or did you perform this check out of personal curiosity?

    Thanks.

Motorcycles greater than 90cc within the Tucson and Phoenix metropolitan areas have to be tested. Pima and Maricopa counties are the only places I've ever heard of requiring emissions for bikes.

A wonderfull little time machine you have there! I hope my 550 Seca looks even half as nice when I get done.

What did you wind up doing with the luggage rack? Is it for sale?

It looks like the tank badge is broken by the Y. One of my badges broke the last A off. I bought a replacement (not cheap). If you want my old badge you could maybe graft the two together to get a decent badge. Let me know and I'll ship it to you.

I've still got the luggage rack, I'll send it to you for the price of shipping. (Don't know what that would be).

That would be awesome RangerG. Let me know what you want for it.

    Hey Tom,

The luggage rack is on the way. Don't worry about the shipping, it wasn't bad. It collapsed down pretty well.

Thanks Ranger! I sent you a PM.

No pictures, but I went on my first long 2up ride on this bike.

This morning, my GF and I met up with an old riding buddy on his GSXR. He laughed as I pulled up (because he knows my RC51, and this bike has quite a lot less "presence".) So, we left Phoenix around 7:30 am and headed east on 60 to Superior, AZ then through the foothills near the big strip mines out east down to the town of Winkelman (which is as big as it sounds).

It was actually cold for a little while up there. As we came down the mountain towards Oracle and Tucson we were able to keep her running around 75mph and maintaining 50 mpg. Then we cruised around downtown Tucson and UA for a while and then headed back up I-10 to 87.

I knew I10 would be a terrible ride, but it was really the only other way to get back to Phoenix other than retracing our route 25% of the way back. So, there we had to stay pegged at 85 mph to stay with traffic. Then we cut back through the Gila River Indian Reservation and rolled into Chandler on reserve.

At one point we were three miles from Sacaton (and gas) but the sign said only 20 miles to Chandler. So, I chose to head on to Chandler. Then the next sign said 39 miles to Chandler. That's when I thought I might be pushing the bike the rest of the way! Fortunately, we got back to town and filled up in time. If it wasn't for the headwind, I think we would have had lots of buffer. Oh well, the uncertainty is half the fun I guess.

The XJ took it like a champ. This is a great little bike.

I was worried about the same problem, because when I bought mine, the 17-digit sticker was damaged. The 9-digit frame number was on the original title, though, and when I took it into my DMV, they just took that number. Didn't even ask me about it.

FWIW, this is in Illinois, and the original title was from Wisconsin.
