    Hey folks, happy sunday.

Anyone have any suggestion on where to splice in a volt gauge? I just picked one up the other day; the mounting I'll be ok, but I'm sure someone here has done this before :D

Mentioned this on the FB 750 Seca page, just in case . Sorry for the cross post !

I have an SAE connector installed on the battery of my bikes for hooking up to battery tender. I've been thinking about using that connector to plug in a volt gauge.

The advantage, to me, would be that I wouldn't have to start chopping up wires.

Obviously would not work while on the battery tender, but who cares??

I found a spare Brown wire in the headlight to tap into on one bike. Ideally, you would install a relay that feeds the direct battery voltage to the meter but turn on the meter based on the ignition switch. Problem with tapping into the ignition switch or anything like I did tapping a brown wire in the headlight, is voltage drop.
I'm ok with what I did cause I know what the voltage drop is (approx) with ignition on and bike not running as well as when running and I'm mostly just looking for the rise in voltage and if something looks abnormal.
If you tap into the battery, the volt meter will run all the time and drain the battery unless you have it on a tender. Gotta know the current draw of the meter and how long it would take to drain the battery to 50% charge where you DON"T want to go lower than 50% charge.
