just got my first bike it is an all black 1982 xj750 seca. it is a project bike that has been sitting for 9 years. i am very good with auto mechanics and welding. i feel pretty comfortable to be working on this bike. my plans with it is to strip it down turn it into a mild cafe racer style bike. like to clean up the front end with low pro handle bars, new round head light change the break master cylinder to a handle bar mount instead of have it hiding in the triple trees. Thinking to keep the instrument cluster not sure. don’t know what to do to the rear end. i am going to put pod air cleaners on it. it already has a 4 into 1 header system. paint it flat navy blue with white checkers on the tins. but my first order of business is to get the thing running. so far what i have done to the bike is fixed the flat tires and changed the oil going to work on the fuel system. the bike has a good electric system.

In case you don't know this, pods don't increase your "performance" unless you re-jet, I believe the #'s are 118 stock, and usually 122 for pipes and pods. I just bought a parts bike (a black '82, your bike's twin) and I plan on putting the factory airbox back in my '81 Seca.
I'd suggest new tires before the paint, new fuel line and filter today, and if it sat for 9 years, you'll be looking at carb cleaning. There are some great articles on this in the archives.
Good luck, and welcome to XJ Bikes !
EDIT - - Chacal says all 750's had 120 main jets factory.
    so how did I get 118's ?
