    Hey guys!

Just picked up a 650 Maxim, and for the life of me, i can't find the seat release.

My XS1100 has bolts underneath, but i believe this one has a latch...
I felt around the perimiter of the seat, and i don't see a key anywhere other than the helmet hook.

I seem to remember a latch by the side cover, on my Virago, but that was nearly 20 years ago, so i can't say for sure

    Anyone got a pic?

not sure about the 650, but is'nt the helmet hook ,the same lock as the seat release, turn one way to release the helmet hook ,and the other way to release the seat lock, my 600 also has 2 levers (one on each side) to push forward and release the catches

Yup, they key on the right side turns one way to release the helmet and the other way to unlock the seat. Pretty sure there is a lever underneath to actually release the seat. Has been three years since I had that model.

you may have to push down a little on the seat when you pull the level. lube up the lever latching system on the seat when you get it open

This is the 650 Maxim helmet/seat lock. You can see the little pin sticking out the back that is the seat lock:

this is the seat latch, the little pin sticks through the hole and that’s how it locks:

I usually have to use two hands - one to turn the key to retract the pin, and one to pull back on the latch.

The seat locks? I didn't know that! Mine just comes off by pushing the little lever on the right side forward.
