I don't see damage or signs of serious leakage of any. I cant "smell" the distinct odour of 80W 90; the bike has 28 750 miles (46 000 km), give or take, on the OD. I usually change many seals on an old machine of any sort, 'cause, like me, they dry and shrink with age . My final drive vent is probably pooched. Are these just Threaded in? I cant seem to find removal instructions in the manual. [IMG]

Final drive seals just seem to go on forever. I've only ever changed one on my GSs and none on my XJ or BMW, and that's over many miles - hundreds of thousands in the case of the GS. In fact, the GS oil seal took me by surprise as it happened early on in the bike's life, but it might have been down to the PO's antics. The replacement seal is still on there a hundred thousand miles later. On the other GS, I've never had to touch it and the swingarm is the original, with its original seals, as far as I know. That's knocking over 300K miles now.
