Working on cleaning carburetors on a newly acquired '81 650 Maxim I discovered one of them has had a float post repaired. I received no maintenance history on this bike so I can offer no info except evidence that it can be done. Once the goo was soaked off the float, valve and carb body it operated freely so all should be well. Tig welded, harder than it looks, but doable.

I thought the same. Keeping everything aligned and in place. I take no credit for this but was suitably impressed. And pleased that it was done.
