Rebuilding these 550 Seca carbs and just started putting fuel in them and I have significant leakage between #2 & #3. There is a plastic Tee from the tank which splits off to feed #2 & #3 carbs, this fitting is only a press in and fuel just seeps past....Can I use teflon tape to build this fitting up? The other passages had aluminum pipe with o-rings to seal....this piece of plastic has nothing to help it seal!

Just had same problem PTFE tape worked for me.Not sure how long term it is though. 25 quid (35 US?) buys you an aluminium replacement,,

O-rings were part of Len's kit, so they have been replaced.....not the news I wanted to hear....but $21 more is a small price to pay for safety.

Did you greats the o-rings before putting them on? Did you grease the bores before pushing the tee in? If 'no' to either or both of these, you very well may have torn or twisted the o-rings. Also, some of the 'T''s are a formed piece with bumps rather than o-rings.....are you sure your "T" has rings? If it doesn't, then it's worn out and is indeed time for a new "T"

O-rings have been greased, they are not the problem. I think you've hit the nail on the head with "worn out plastic tee". The tee has no o-rings and is just a press fit piece of plastic. I believe I'll be making a purchase on the replacement tee xj550h had suggested.

In terms of the economic health of the working-class of our respective countries, I suspect that you get the better deal; or at least it's close to the same cost.

Hmm, didn't mean to start a socio-political debate, but you could be right. Best make sure Donald doesn't get too much further then..

He won't. Or if he does he won't be able to get any of his policies in place.

Back to the original issue, I noticed that the 'plastic' T on my BS30s was in fact metal (aluminium I guess) which looked to
me like it might have had o-rings fitted before a plastic coating was shrunk over it. I didn't want to mess with mine so I used the PTFE and some silicone grease - might be interesting though to cut one up and see if it can be 'fixed'.

They are made with a fuel-proof rubberized coating over an aluminum T.
Replicating that at home is essentially a no-go situation. Chacal sells a replacement that uses o-rings, as well as selling the original moulded fitting.

Hey XJ550H, do you happen to have the link to this tee on other sites? The eBay link isn’t up anymore. I’ve got the same issue, my tee is quite loose in its slot and pissed fuel everywhere. Thankfully it’s still winter here!
