    Hello,
I recently bought a xj700x. The motor hasn’t run for a year and slept outside.
So I gave it some tlc. Unfortunately it won’t run like it should. I cleaned the carburetors several times ultrasonic but still not running well.
It starts good and runs on all cilinders but won’t rev up.
The strange thing is that it sometimes runs well after a short test ride.
I thought it must be something with the carburetors but if it runs good sometimes it must be something else.
    Ignition or something.
I could use some good advice.

Them carbs are really tricky to clean well. I used to use a ultrasonic cleaner but I found it would miss the really plugged jets. So I went back to hand cleaning all the jets with fine wire. That seems to do the trick. Did you happen to see if the little jet in the bottom of each float bowl would pass air or carb cleaner? Most folks miss that jet. It is really important to get that one clean, it is part of the choke ckt.

Keep us posted on your updates. Congrads on the bike. Love them X water cooled bikes.

Don’t know wich jet you exactly mean but I cleaned everything several times and everything seems open.
Sometimes it runs well after a while.

when checking the carburetors for the first time they looked clean inside so no old fuel gum etc.

Nice looking bike, clean for the yr. I put some marks on your photo to show the jets in the bowls and to look for any pinholes of issues with the diaphragms (the yellow arrow). Just checking to see if all the jets pass liquid in the bowls.
