XJ 550 Maxim new starter?

    Finally getting back into the swing of turning wrenches on my 81 xj550 maxim.

    pulled the 'recently rebuilt starter' and it's toast. complete garbage.

    so, need a new one and they're seemingly impossible to find for an 'affordable' price... and that may make the bike 'totaled' in my accounting (aka what i've sunk into my initial $400 investment)

    does anyone have a lead on a new starter unit for this bike?
