Looking for One used XJ550 piston with rings

Hi - I'm hoping someone might have a spare kicking around with good rings, lowish miles that I can use for a parts engine rebuild/restore. I'm located in Ottawa Ont. Canada

 

What size ? have you measured either the piston or the bore ? ?

 

Its for an XJ550 block - 57mm diameter, part #4U8-11637-00-00. Shipping, taxes and tariffs make it prohibitive to order a used one from the US. I'm looking for a used one from any of our Canadian members on here.

Add 1573%. Oh wait….. that’s if it’s coming HERE—— not sure what the current Canadian Retaliatory Tariff is ……

 

Oh, not sure where I got that #. I need the original bore, not an oversize. There are some on EBay but none from Canada.

More than the part itself. A used $21 USD piston with rings would cost more than $100 CAD ($70 USD) to get it to my door. The shipping alone is more $ than the part itself, then there is additional duties and taxes, then another 13% on the total of all of it.

 

I'm trying to find one locally to avoid paying excessively for shipping, duty, and taxes. Well, shipping and duty anyway, since the 13% tax applies whether or not it comes from the US or Canada. There is a boneyard about an hour or so away I'll reach out to, but the guy who runs the place is a bit of a knucklehead, and not of the v-twin type. Len is fantastic; I've dealt with him before, it's just an economic thing right now with the dollar, tariffs, etc.

 

LOL! It certainly has become Clown World! - So, just as an example - There is an eBay item (#126787628599) that will NOT ship to Canada whatsoever, full stop. But, by using a dummy address not at all far from you (Sauquoit, NY), and ebay.com through a VPN as opposed to ebay.ca, the seller's checkout indicates FREE shipping and that part could, I imagine, arrive at your doorstep for the very reasonable price of $21.75 USD within a week, instead of the very unreasonable price that similar item (#205260426149) would cost to arrive at my doorstep (almost $70 USD), within a month, if I'm lucky.

 

If it’s something you need, I could pick it up…… Sauquoit is only about 15 min away….

 

Actually I just used Sauquoit as a guess of where you were generally located to generate a shipping quote and was surprised when shipping cost came up as FREE. It may be possible to send that part right to your door, for only $21.75 US, total cost, No charge for shipping, if I ordered it through eBay.com. They seem to use US post general ground service. They are a parts supplier in Georgia. They cannot ship to Canada whatsoever, nor is it possible to order it through EBay.ca. This is what life is like behind the iron curtain.

 

Why not send the $ to Dave (via Paypal,etc.) and he can order the part off eBay and have it shipped to himself, and then you can pick it up from him?

 

Or just pm me the auction page, and I could try to get it and you just hand me the cash when you’re here
