EDITED due to information that just came to light.

    Damn, I am too gullible.
I would buy beach front property in Nebraska.

Sorry guys, just hoping that it was true

Just a thought - you should be careful how you edit posts like this.... now because of the removal of pretty much all the original information, it makes no sense, and people like me coming into it are totally confused.

Might have been good as a giggle - even if it wasn't true :)

It was a guy who rode his motorcycle into the back of a truck at 120+ MPH and got his head stuck in the rear cargo door and was dragged for a mile. There was a link here, but now it's gone (pretty graphic stuff), but I'm sure if you really wanted to find the pictures, google or that last snopes.com link would turn something up.

Funny thing is, Snopes says it's true.

Normally I would agree with you. However, since the story was found to be untrue the original post went from a "look at these pictures of a guy in a terrible accident saved by his helmet" story to a bunch of pictures of a dead guy hanging by his head. Rather morbid.

I commend Ass.Fault for pulling them.

back in 70 my brother was holding on the side of a el camino to try and start his bike he didn't have a helmet on at the time. he let go popped the clutch the bike started. apparently he hit the throttle then hit the back end of the car. people there said he wasn't going but maybe 15mph when it happen. my parents and me ended up at the hospital with the doc telling us that the head injury need to be operated on and was a 50/50 chance of surviving if he lived he'd be a vegtable the rest of his life. he was lucky he died he was 24 i was 17 at the time. needless to say i don't get on my bike with out a helmet even if it's a trip to quick trip.

    the wreck is true.

the untrue bit of this original post was that the rider lived - saved by his helmet.

I appoligize for the removal, and subsequent confusion.

The photo's and comments were edited...YES

The reason was out of respect for that young man's family.(And am glad you had the same opinion Carl)

I was under the impression that this accident DID NOT involve death.

My intents were to provide further backing that helmet wearing CAN and WILL save your life, this young man was not that fortunate.

There are links avalible to view this scene, but now I know that the man was killed I do not want to view them.

I appoligize if I have upset anyone.

P.S. I am starting to act more like 60 minutes, not checking my facts

Sometimes a helmet just doesn't work right. The guy in the picture had one that didn't. Granted he was doing (if I recall the story right) around 100 when he hit the truck, but still a "crash" helmet is supposed to protect you in a crash. When I was in high school, a friend was riding his new (to him) Honda and was approaching a RR track when he realized far to late the the brakes had quit working. The largest piece found was about 1/4 of a helmet. Never found anything of him or the bike. The HP guessed his speed in excess of 90.
Helmets are great at times, but stupidity and recklessness can override their usefulness.

it happened about 17 miles from my house. funny thing is, the kid was part of a group of riders one of which died under similar circumstances just weeks earlier.

the only discrepancy I heard was that he was going a bit faster than 120mph.... more like 160. dunno if its true though

Yeah I dont think anyone would sweat the details on that one. Same outcome would prob be enevitable.

I think this story is evidence that we ALL as a community need to "Slow down....and smell the roses" :)

On the other hand, Things like this do cause trouble for the bike community in general. Support your AMA or simmilar to keep our rights too ;)
