Got my hands on my first bike and am trying to get it rode worthy again 10 years ago it was put away after a front break job, when the breaks locked up and they couldn’t figure it out, they cracked the bleeders to relive pressure to be Abel to move it, now their is no pressure at the handle or in the lines, tried using a vacuum pump at the bleeder valves but couldn’t get any fluid out, tried reverse bleeding the system but got no where, attached the vacuum bleeder to one side than used a syringe on the other side to try to pull air and got a little bit of air and fluid but still can’t build pressure or get solid fluid flow, all lines looked in good shape and no visible leaks, have tryd my best too troubleshoot but wanted advice on where y’all would start and things you would look at, I think it might be a clogged check valve somewhere but don’t know exactly where too look, any advice and input is greatly appreciated!! Sitting 10 yrs ("after a front brake job"), likely means no brake job was ever performed, or they did a poor job and parked it as a result.

Would be a good idea to rebuild both MC and Caliper, replace caliper piston if pitted or scored, and replace lines/fittings/fasteners/bleeders.

Spiegler Performance is likely to have bolt-on-ready brake line kits.
Yamaha dealers, local/online/etc likely to have MC and caliper rebuild kits.
BrakeCrafters.com has 316 stainless pistons for most bikes & really good prices
XJ4Ever (Supporting vendor of this forum) also likely to have everything you need.

I've had bleed nipples that are mostly fully clogged and the vac / syringe methods are fruitless. same goes for banjo bolts that can get plugged up with debris and rust. (read the "in the church of clean" carb clean guide and apply those principles to all your brake components)

When I got my the XS850, at a glance the pads looked new... If i had taken it out like that, before a FULL brake inspection (which resulted in a FULL rebuild) I would likely have died on the first ride.
Brakes are critical safety equipment.. Don't trust the work that anyone else claims to have done years ago.

You give me the feel you're a young person? If so, without knowing your experience and capability I would struggle to suggest you take on a front brake rebuild - without having someone look over your shoulder at least. One thing for certain, the whole lot do need to be rebuilt.

Post a few more times and you will be able to put some pics on the thread. Let us see what you having going. Them Seca MC can be interesting to work with as they are behind the headlight bracket and do need to be cleaned very well after sitting for not much time at all.

Thanks for the responses, already planning too do a full rebuild on the break system, and do have someone helping me, I am a younger guy with a lot of truck mechanics skills and experience but only a little on motorcycles just trying to get as much knowledge as possible and hear about issues and things I need to be aware of as I start this project , will post pictures as soon as I can, going to start tearing the bike down this week and get the break system taken off and start ordering parts, thanks again.

Think logically, take no shortcuts, replace anything perishable. With brakes, anything less than perfection is your life, and others'.
